Clock Flashing, Controls Unresponsive

Check, in this order

Why the keys seem dead
A newly powered Viking electric wall oven shows dashes for the time and starts no program until the clock is set, so after an outage a panel that ignores bake is often just waiting.
Premiere models with an analog face add one step: Viking has the analog and digital clocks synced after an outage, and only then is the time set.
Gas self-clean ranges pause in a different way. The VGSC306 service manual gives its ignition control 30 to 60 seconds after power returns before it will light the oven.
Stop and call if
- The breaker trips again as soon as it is reset.
- The display stays dark with the breaker on.
- The clock loses the time again with no outage anywhere in the house.
- F08 appears on a DSOE or DDOE electric wall oven.
- A scorched smell or discolored plastic appears around the panel.

Why won't my Viking wall oven bake until the clock is set?
Because the control is built that way. Viking's guides for its VSOE, VDOE, RVSOE and RVDOE wall ovens say the time of day has to be set before any other program can be used. When power returns the display can show dashes, and the keys wait for the clock.
My oven clock keeps resetting with no power cut. What does that mean?
